From the start, the WLC’s mission was to contribute to the community through literacy and education, volunteerism, and philanthropy. This mission has taken many forms over the decades, yet always stayed true to making a meaningful contribution to our North Shore community. Today, we continue this legacy through the WLC Community Grant Award program.
WLC Community Grant Awards are made to local 501(c)(3) organizations that can demonstrate a unique need that a WLC Grant can fulfill. We consider a wide range of requests for help funding educational, recreational, and social service programming.
WLC grants range from $500 to $5,000. In our last fiscal year, WLC made a total of $20,500 in community grants to 10 organizations.
While most of our grants are made to organizations on the North Shore, we are open to requests from qualified organizations located in the greater Chicago area.
Before making your grant request, please review the previous recipients of the WLC Community Grant Award program to get a sense of some of the programs we support. WLC does not make grants for general operations.
